Job Description:
Applies basic networking concepts in the analysis, study, and design of data networks.
Assists more experienced network engineers in analyzing network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput).
Assists in planning installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities.
Assist in maintaining, operating, monitoring and troubleshooting of the AFMS Network Infrastructure, Network
Security, and Network Management products comprised of the following technologies:
Cisco 3750, 3560, 4500, 6500, and Nexus series switches; Cisco NAC framework; ACS; CSM; IPS; Arcsight; ASA; WLC; WCS; MSE; LMS; CheckPoint Gaia
Assists higher level network engineering in the review of existing network designs and capabilities with the goal of making refinements, reducing operating overhead, enhancing network throughput, and improving current network topologies.
Qualifications:
Cisco CCNA Preferred
3+ years of demonstrated experience and a degree in a related field.
Knowledge in protocol analysis, communication network system design and maintenance, and knowledge of communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP).
Other current Cisco/Network certifications are a plus
Advanced understanding of Local Area Network concepts and principles including IPv6
Basic understanding of Network Security concepts and principles
Ability to write technical documentation
Available to work non-standard hours when required
